About SixSides
Building communities through events
At SixSides, we believe that events are more than just gatherings.
They're the heartbeat of thriving communities.
Our mission is to empower event organisers to create meaningful, connected experiences that resonate long after the final session ends.
If you'd like to hear our story in our own voices, we recorded an episode of our podcast, Our B2B SaaS Journey, about how we get started.
Our story begins with a problem at a conference
In mid-2024, developer Mitchell Davis was preparing a talk for Laracon Australia. While pondering how to make his session truly engaging, he landed on an idea: what if he created an app specifically for the conference? One that attendees would actually use - not just for the schedule, but for networking, content, and community. The result? An interactive app that transformed the Laracon experience and left attendees raving.
From a side project to a business idea
What started as a side project quickly revealed a much bigger opportunity. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees and organisers made something clear: there was a gap in how events connect people, deliver value, and build lasting communities. Mitchell realised he had built more than an event app - he'd created a new way for people to engage.
Enter Gavin Tye, sales strategist and founder of Sales Market Fit
Around this time, Mitchell reached out to Gavin Tye, a B2B SaaS sales strategist he'd previously worked with. Gavin's first instinct was scepticism - after all, the event tech space was crowded. But after reviewing the app, he saw something different. It wasn't just another scheduling tool. It was a platform that helped every side of the event community connect more meaningfully - attendees, speakers, sponsors, organisers, and associations.
The duo quickly realised they had complementary strengths. Mitchell was a product designer and experienced Laravel developer, while Gavin had deep sales strategy expertise. Together, they could build something bigger than either could alone.
SixSides was born
The platform evolved into SixSides - a nod to the six sides of every event community:
- Hosts (associations and businesses)
- Event organisers
- Attendees
- Staff
- Sponsors
- Speakers
SixSides is designed to serve each side uniquely - before, during, and after the event. Whether it's through gamification to break the ice, real-time networking, photo-based community storytelling, or lead capture for sponsors, the platform goes far beyond logistics. It creates long-term community value.
A shared mission
Mitchell and Gavin are on a mission to help events do more than "go off without a hitch." They want to make them unforgettable, brand-building, connection-deepening experiences. Events shouldn't just happen - they should matter. And with SixSides, they do.
What's next?
SixSides is now working with early customers to refine and scale the platform, starting with developer and tech communities. But the vision is broader: to become the most community-centric event platform in the world.
We're bootstrapped, driven, and obsessed with building a product that people love to use. If you believe events should create impact, grow relationships, and foster belonging - let's talk.
